In towns like Lone Pine, the old west comes alive with an annual arts/crafts show, parade, and festival. The majestic Mount Whitney looms above the town. Nearby, Death Valley entertains visitors with a castle and unusual sights like sand dunes and canyons full of striking colors. In the mountains above Bishop, in Rock Creek, and along the June Lake Loop, visitors will find amazing scenery by easy walking trails where creeks bubble, lakes and waterfalls sparkle, and the fishing is fine. In summer at Mammoth Lakes, there are many lakes and amazing trails with unusual sights (like the view inside a crater) to be enjoyed. Winter invites skiing, ice skating, and dog sled rides. At Mono Lake, take the never-to-be-forgotten walk among the tall crystal-like tufa formations.
